As Canadians we were inundated with the flow of information and debate for months regarding the Presidential election. Finally after all the negative ad campaigns the result emerged with Barack Obama serving another term in Office. I heard that the campaigning by both parties cost approximately $6 billion. With many Americans and others around the world searching for clean drinking water, a daily meal or shelter, this amount of money basically pissed in the wind amounted to more than the combined GDP of a multitude of Nations. The aphrodisiac of the super wealthy is control of Power and Money.  With diverging visions of the American Dream, the Democrats led by Barack Obama championed the hearts and hopes of the Middle Class and working Poor. The Republicans motivated by wealth to provide the fuel to create a trickle down effect which would benefit the masses would see the Rich get richer and the Poor left to fend for themselves.  Most surprising and which left me scratching my head was the side votes Americans were presented. If this was the era of 1950-1970 the uproar would of led to Civil War, as questions ranged from 1) The legalization of Marijuana 2) Gay Marriage 3)Workers in the Porn Industry forced to wear condoms 4) Medically Assisted Suicide and  5) A New Bridge between Windsor and Ontario. Society is truly showing a dynamic need for change, consequently at what cost? Morals and traditional family values seem to be cast aside for the new rebels of society who advocate change, because they can which may not necessarily be for the betterment of all. A few weeks ago I attended my cousin Domenic’s wedding. The priest had an interesting discussion but his main point was that, “a family that eats and prays together stays together” was the essence of his sermon. The key for a society to maintains its’ strength lies within the family unit.  Always be respectful and tolerant of others but use caution if they are manipulative trying to destroy your core values. Keep those that try to bring detrimental influence toward your family, AWAY!
