Good morning,
What really does sacrifice mean? During religious feasts, some avoid eating or drinking to appease themselves with their valiant attempt to mimic some sort of pain and suffering. Yet after the day, week or month life usually gets back to a sense of normalcy. I am not one to talk but I did know someone personally who made me understand what real sacrifice is and was for him. The friend was John Wayne Faught. He was real and this Man was born to become and fulfill the name bestowed upon him. He was far from perfect but he chose a path in life that most of us would never consider or just cringe at. He served in the Canadian Military and ultimately sacrificed his life. He died in the act of duty and in a mission he believed in. Yet he was put in a position by others who wage war behind a desk. Decisions are made by people who would rather be at the front of a line at a buffet instead of on a battlefield. Today we live in a Democracy of virtue signalling rather than one full of substance.
John Wayne Faught served in many conflicts around the world, including the former Yugoslavia and most recently Afghanistan. He was about to embark on his third tour of duty and decided to have dinner which included my family and me. We sat and he enjoyed his favourite beer as I sensed he knew he wasn’t coming back. His confidence waned as he wasn’t as dominant as usual. He strongly expressed that his biggest achievement in his career until now, was that he never lost a Man under his watch.
On January 16, 2010, my friend came home in a body bag. His dreams of retiring and possibly joining a special forces tactical unit for a local police force are gone. Even though we didn’t see eye to eye on the purpose of the mission, I respected him and his decisions. Ultimately, his words came to fruition as he never lost a Man on his watch because he sacrificed himself by taking the lead and saved the division of twenty-year-olds from severe injury or death. To reiterate, he was not a perfect person but in the end, he was a true hero!
Emboldening the essence of what sacrifice means, he became a sacrificial lamb not because he had to but because he believed in the ideals of the Democracy he fought to restore. We live in a society in which we have the opportunity to get up in the morning, take the free choice given and make a decision to improve our lives in any way we desire. It is everyone’s right to ask questions about decisions made and the legitimacy of an outcome. this is especially needed if these decisions alter the course of our daily lives. When ‘Power and Money’ are abused as self-serving, legitimacy is thrown out the window for the purposes of greed and corruption.
The pursuit of ‘Power and Money at the expense of actual people has evolved into the sole motivator. The United States of America has always been the beacon of Democracy. Unfortunately, over the last few years, confidence in International Institutions has eroded, and the world has gone mad as tensions have risen globally. All in the pursuit of money and the ability to exercise power over the masses as if the People are the fish in a fishbowl. Canada isn’t any different.
The American Midterm elections are a reflection of how the acting government is performing. Besides the smoke and mirrors, the outcome will provide a new path of governance. The trust and faith in the system have eroded significantly. Now is the time to rebuild it while restoring confidence in the institutions themselves.
Even though some results have yet to be decided. The Arizona election will be the one to watch with the most impact on the present administration’s direction. The USD Index remains weak and slips below the 110.0 level. The currencies are stronger overall. Even though the price of Oil plunges from the $92/barrel level to $86/barrel as I write the Canadian Dollar is approaching the 0.7450 cent level. The recent strength can also be attributed to the extraordinary labour results as 108k new jobs were created when only (10k) were expected. Yet it had little or no impact on the unemployment rate. Keep in mind these results are probably skewed because seasonal workers and teachers come back onto the payroll.
Nonetheless, the purpose of today’s writing is just to realize that we are living the lives we enjoy because of the sacrifices real people made with their lives. The world is constantly being bombarded with evil. Wanna-be tyrants and dictators easily bribe their enablers and little do they know they will be the first to be discarded when a revolt occurs. These misfits are not empathetic and would throw out the baby with the bathwater. Be vigilant and always aware that the intentions of some aren’t always for the benefit of all. Marxist principles have infiltrated our institutions, laws are manipulated to destroy our fundamental rights and freedoms and indebtedness will bring the weak to their knees. Those with resources will capitulate regardless of the amount of wealth possessed because when you are staring down the barrel of a gun, one’s choices are limited. United we Stand, Divided We Fall! Please remember those that truly made sacrifices so that we can live our lives as freely as we can without fear or threats.
I think I love you!
