In the last few weeks I seem to have had an out of body experience. Having elevated blood pressure and a bout of gout, things need to change quick…or else. It started when my youngest left her new Apple phone in a Swiss Chalet restroom. Shortly after we left, we returned and the phone was gone. Oh my god! We had the Manager view the cameras and it disappeared like the money in my bank account.
For Thanksgiving we headed to Chicago for a type of ‘Diners and Dives’ mini family vacation, enjoying the different tastes, sites and activities the City had to offer. I made sure I had enough medication just in case I had an attack. Before we left, my eldest rather than pack, decided to go see her friends at the nightclub as they were coming back from University to see their families. Oh well, she showed up at 3:00am and we were suppose to leave at 5am. Before leaving I had to make sure a few bills were paid and then the question was asked by my eldest, “Can we go to Best Buy so I can look at the phones?”
I simply asked what for? Where is your phone? Then my wife intervened, why did you say anything, you know your dad has high blood pressure? All I heard was that her phone was stolen along with the keys to our condo. Oh my god! I flipped, not because the phone was lost but because of the attitude that it will be replaced. She didn’t get it. Where do you come up with $1000+ so easily? If you had a child and had to decide between food and a phone what would be your priority?
My leg shook all the way to Chicago, maybe we saved gas? I tried to make the most of it but it was a test of family to say the least.
Upon our arrival back to Toronto, my wife also lost the other set of Condo keys which cost $500 to replace.
I recently checked my life insurance policy and yes I am worth more dead than alive. Little do they know that I am in the process of changing the beneficiaries?
