“Words”, oh how they can come back and bite you. In the case of President Obama his proclamation of drawing a line in the sand in regards to the use of chemical weapons on civilians, put him on the path to act decisively. Assuming it was the Syrian Government that supposedly used these weapons on its’ own citizens, the world lead by the Americans came out screaming for approval to act militarily. After the G20, support was not as united. A UN resolution would not be attainable as the Russians and Chinese would veto any attempt.

President Bush when in charge publicly stated to the world that the so called evil axis’s of the world would be dealt with directly or indirectly via covert operations. The public wouldn’t even know about what was going on while Americans would go about their business and keep the economy humming along.

Obama inheriting the aftermath of another Bush disaster is now in a difficult position. The Russians will stand with Syria as they are a strategic military advantage, their only port in the Mediterranean Sea. Further, my own thoughts, Iran who has a military alliance with Syria may be the true target. Their nuclear capabilities are a threat to Israel and they may be trying to lure Iran into a confrontation to destroy their nuclear facilities.

Doubt may remain as to who actually used chemical weapons? The English Parliament refused to support PM Cameron and military intervention. They were not as quick as they were with Iraq with falsified and fabricated evidence based on ‘weapons of mass destruction’. Hopefully war is averted because the only outcome as we saw in Libya, Egypt and potentially Syria is the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda the enemy the Americans are trying to destroy but are empowering their advance and influence.
