I thought Dalton McGinty quit yet he was back in the spotlight a few weeks ago to take part in an inquiry investigating the $585-million gas plants scandal in Ontario, Canada. Having become a smooth politician in his career, he simply dismissed the government committee, deflecting all criticism and shifting the conversation.
This Teflon Don irks me so much because instead of being held accountable for his actions he simply mocks the course of democracy that has been established to find the truth. As Premier of Ontario he earned the privilege of becoming a beacon of Democracy. With the deletion of emails and suppression of evidence, even the Privacy Commissioner was astonished at the blatant disregard for the rules that govern common sense.
Furthermore the former Finance Minister, Dwight Duncan, called the investigating government committee a ‘kangaroo court’. So my question is who do the People trust when we seek to find the truth? Do we put our trust in the individuals we elect or the Institutions that govern us? In comparison the RCMP recently uncovered a terrorist plot to derail passenger trains in Canada and the United States.
The individual, who was captured and accused, mocked our justice system. He only accepted the Quran as the only law he would be held accountable to.
Therefore I ask if our own elected officials mock the Institutions and the laws that govern us then what becomes of our society. If our leaders don’t respect the laws which are here to govern then why would anyone else. Power is Money but heads should be rolling to stop this bad example of leadership and set precedence for all. Hopefully, Ontarians will see the light and the next elected government will change for the better? I know it is wishful thinking on my part but spending money blindly without accountability is just costing everyone more!
