Superbowl Sunday came and went with the outcome a little surprise with Baltimore Ravens taking the Championship Crown from the San Francisco 49ers. The highlights of the game centered on the coaches, Jim and John Harbaugh, two brothers became adversaries on the grid-iron rather than their family home.

Another story line was the last game to be played by Ray Lewis, the Middle Linebacker, who announced he would retire from the game after this season. Lewis is considered one of the fiercest competitors and hardnosed individuals to ever play the game. The only comparison I can make of knowing an individual with such tenacity is my wife, if I don’t do what she asks, she will make me tremble with fear of the unknown.  The other story line was the rise of the 49ers rookie quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, who at 6foot5 and 200 plus lbs, took over the starting position early in the season due to injury to starter, Alex Smith. Even though there was an initial controversy, the coach put an end to his decision by going on record by stating Kaepernick gave him the best chance to win. Win is all the kid did as he looked unstoppable early in the playoffs with poise, speed and strength; comparable only to that of a Roman Warrior. With the game seemingly out of reach by halftime, as the Ravens had a huge lead, the halftime show featuring Beyonce, must have inspired the 49ers to a certain degree. Or it was the power outage that lasted at least half an hour which would have played with the psyche of the Ravens players. Personally I believe it was Destiny’s Child that inspired the testosterone induced players who turned the game from dud to stud.

The plot thickened, like the 1970 Burt Reynolds movie, “The Longest Yard”. It came down to the final play to determine the World Championship. You couldn’t ask for a better script.
