Today not only is my sister’s 29th birthday, again, but it also happens to be the third year anniversary of the sacrifice made by John Wayne Faught, a Canadian Solider and a friend, known as “Crusty”who lost his life 3 years ago. The week before he left for this third tour of duty, he did something out of character and invited his family and my family to Baton Rouge for dinner. It could have been considered “The Last Supper” because in our conversation I could feel that John wasn’t as confident as he usually was. He seemed concerned that the fight was going to be taken to Afghanistan’s, Panjwai district. This scenario became
worrisome as a majority of his unit were half his age. They were going to face the potential of being ambushed. His combat experience was very valuable and he believed in his mission, to bring a sense of normalcy to the lives of the people. They are still being suppressed by the actions of Al-Qaeda. John was proud of the fact that he never lost a man under his command and in the end he lived up to his the fact he was most proud of. He sacrificed himself to save the other individuals in his platoon maintaining his word. One thing he was convinced about was that Osama bin Laden was dead. The Americans tested their ‘Bunker Buster Missiles’
valued at approximately $2 M/bomb, daily inside every crack of the mountains, yet Bin Laden escaped on a donkey while needing dialysis due to failing kidneys. Were the Americans using Afghanistan as a test ground for the potential of attacking Iran and their underground nuclear facilities? The recent movie release of Zero Dark Thirty, the hunt for Osama bin Laden, follows the efforts of top secret CIA intelligence forces,
who rented a home in Abbottabad, Pakistan near the compound where bin Laden was believed to be in hiding. President Obama announced they killed him, threw his body in the ocean with no autopsy performed. Unfortunately, the powers that guide us may have ulterior motives; Power and Money. If my friend could speak from the grave the truth would be told. I simply hope that for all those that sacrificed their lives, they
weren’t lost in vain for the sake of the corrupt and greed.
