U.S.A Housing Starts fell in February by 1.1%, a surprise as the market was expecting a 0.1% improvement. With weather disparities all over the country, this may have contributed to the outcome.
In the UK, CPI- Consumer Prices rose 3.4% a little higher than the expected 3.3% yet down from 3.6% in Jan. Still above the BOE targets for inflation, interest rates will still remain low as the economy shrank 0.2% in the fourth quarter the first contraction in a year as unemployment remains at the highest level in 16 years.
In Canada more layoffs as a maintance company once owned by Air Canada, Aveos seeks bankruptcy protection, locking out its workers in three cities, Montreal, Winnipeg and Vancouver. More better paying jobs being lost.
At least 75% of Greek bondholders have agreed to new terms according to headlines. Next major event is March 20th when bond payments are due. This sets the stage for Ireland and Portugal to accept similar deals by force. It looks like things are under control for now.
In France a heartless coward has targeted children, as a way to make a political statement? There are too many fanatics in a world that is slowly becoming smaller. Rights and freedoms are a blessing yet idiots like this should simply be disposed of.
