If you haven’t heard already one of the most talented women in the music industry, Whitney Huston, met a most tragic death over the weekend. Being the same age as myself it sent a few shivers down my spine, thinking the inevitable is around the corner. But then again, if I compare my life to hers there is no comparison. Being born to a life of privilege and with a natural talent, the lady had the world at her feet. Stunningly beautiful her voice was mesmerising and many a time I would take a few of my belles’ to park the car while throwing a little Whitney in the tape deck to get a bit of that inspiration myself. Unfortunately for her, substance abuse took hold of her life and the addiction cost the world a living legend. With Valentines Day tomorrow many relationships will be over analyzed and compared. Some will do little while others will spend, like the Greeks, to demonstrate their love with materialistic flare. Relationships can become very complicated if one imposes their will while hindering the other from achieving their goals. Look at the big Grammy winner, Adel,as she said out of a ‘rubbish relationship’ she was inspired to write and compose a work of art that landed her fame, fortune and recognition. As I prepare for Valentines’ Day it is my hope to take all the negatives my wife sees in me and our relationship and propel her with inspiration to do something positive and creative. If she is lucky, I may even consider taking out my Whitney Huston tapes and show her a little lovin.
