Good morning,
Yesterday, I went to court to fight a traffic violation. I definitely wasn’t speeding, just returning home without a worry in the world. All of a sudden, the lights on a Police cruiser flash and my heart skips a beat. As I pulled over, an officer came to the driver’s side and stated that I had failed to make a complete stop. I responded by saying I beg to differ.
He asks for my license and registration, then asks me if I own the vehicle. I gave you my license and registration, doesn’t it prove it? What’s the point were you profiling me because I am driving a nice car and I might look like someone who will pay without a pushback.
This was the third time I went to court for this offence. For me, it was about the principle of the matter. Even though I pleaded guilty to a reduced charge, the court emphasized the word guilty as if I were a hardened criminal. I chose this route for only one reason so that I could give the court a piece of my mind. If you don’t believe what I said, you can ask for the transcripts quoting case #4863999008C08937Z00 City of Toronto transcripts.
I started by stating that I respect the law and police officers in general. Meanwhile, the politicians have police on a quota system, bastardizing the law to convict individuals for minor offences. As a result, taking productive people away from earning a living, who gladly pay the taxes that are supposed to support the public services that already exist. Instead, we are taken away, debating inches instead of fighting real crimes.
Then I used the example of an incident that occurred with my new neighbours. They recently moved across the street and three thugs broke down their front door to take the cars. They were thwarted when my neighbour came down with a golf club and the wife pressed the panic alarm at 3 am.
An hour later, the police arrived and apologized to the traumatized couple for being late. The reason why they were late was because this was the 26th break-in of the evening.
Then I said to the judge that the bureaucracy within the justice system is insane. All I ask is that instead of chasing productive people for minor infractions why doesn’t the Province and City concentrate on curbing real crime and incorporate efficiencies, rather than extorting citizens for minor infractions? Complete nonsense and a waste of valuable time and productivity. It’s EXTORTION! Tax increases are out of control!
Speaking about efficiencies, The Bank of Canada announced another rate cut of 0.25% bringing the Bank Rate down to 3%. This move sent the CAD$ reeling to the 0.69 cent vicinity. With inflation near the 2% threshold, and the interest rate differentials widening between Canada and the USA, the Canadian economy is expecting major headwinds from the pending tariffs coming February 1st.
Presently, the Canadian government has been prorogued. No debate or united strategy has been formalized, simply a choice of retaliation rather than negotiation. Ultimately, this will hurt every Canadian and reignite inflationary pressures. Recent job data has been overestimated and uncertainty in job security is now a concern. Also, 60% of mortgages are coming due within the next two (2) years at levels higher than before. Bear down and eliminate debt and manage discretionary spending.
Keep in mind, that when they state inflation is under control, they usually manipulate the variables to meet their target. The most common variable is energy and that will be coming down once the production commences more aggressively in America.
Nonetheless, the proposed solution by the existing government is to throw more money to alleviate the burden of costs. They are planning to introduce a COVID-type monetary stimulus to counter the tariffs. It is unsustainable and will turn Canada, if it already isn’t, into a third-world country.

The USD Index remains firm in the 108.0 vicinity. Precious Metals have slipped as Gold hovers in the USD$2750/oz range and Silver is close to the USD$31/oz level. On the other hand, Oil dips below $73/B level. Personally, I can foresee the price of Oil in the USD$40-$50/B range. This will reduce financing that funds wars as well as reduce costs of production by substantially driving costs down.
I think I love you!
