Good morning,
Lessons in life are always taught yet we never truly understand their meaning. Money seems to make the world go round but in actuality, there is more substance in a meaningful relationship than having money in the bank. It is said, that money can buy you love but the question remains, is it love from the heart or from the loved ones’ pockets?
I once worked for a very wealthy man, we had our cordial moments but we also had intense arguments. Sometimes, they became so insane that we would blow up into screaming matches. The issue for me was always the blatant disrespect for people, especially his employees. He would think that his power was his money and his money gave him the power to treat people like crap! I would never stand for it and this is why I would battle regardless of his stature. His money could never silence me or make me respect him while he continued to disrespect people, especially co-workers.
Then one day, we were screaming at each other. He opened the window from his office into the trading room with a barrage of choice words. I simply stated very calmly, keep screaming, go on have a heart attack, no one will cry if you drop dead. Then the words, that came to mind were quite elegant as I responded, ‘For a wealthy man, You are worthless!’. There was no rebuttal, there was nothing. Eventually, I did get fired which caused me some short-term pain but the long-term gain was liberty and a new course in life.
This week, is the American Thanksgiving, the most important week in American tradition. It is a time for football, traveling home to family and friends, and most importantly giving thanks for the freedom and sovereignty people enjoy. Nothing should ever be taken for granted! It is also considered the biggest shopping event of the year, kicking off Christmas.
Unfortunately, I am at a little loss for words today as I lost my Father at the age of 84 years old, on Tuesday afternoon. It was the anniversary of the assassination of JFK on Nov. 22, 1963, and yesterday would have been my parent’s 59th wedding anniversary. My father was born on March 14, 1938, when the Second World War was happening, during the Fascist regime of Mussolini. He told me they turned school children into spies against their own parents by reporting conversations to the schoolmaster.
He shared the same birthday as Albert Einstein which also happens to be the same day Stephen Hawking passed away. A genius in his own right, my Father was compassionate, generous, humorous, self-educated, and always strived to be the best at whatever he would do. He was and will always be my guiding light. A man full of empathy for his fellow man and would give the shirt off his back just because he believes in the good within people.
As a new immigrant in Toronto, he couldn’t speak English at the time and got on a street car, and simply asked the Driver, College, and Bathurst (with a heavy Italian accent). He had no fare and a total stranger paid his ticket. It left such a profound mark in his life that he never forgot it and since then he lived his life by paying it forward.
He always encouraged me to earn my living with the pen. I am not sure if that was the right advice because I could have been monetarily wealthier if I followed in his footsteps and became a Plumber. I am not complaining, he taught me to respect people that respect you, give to those in need, and value people with integrity. Most importantly, be true to yourself as good things come to those that are sincere. Live, Love, Laugh, and do something that may seem out of character, tell the people you are close to that you love them. It is something you will never regret and will comfort you in times of need.
Lastly, I also looked up a few significant relationships to the sequence of numbers I have been noticing over the course of the last month, specifically 1111 and his birthday 3:14
3:14 represents the mathematical anomaly of PI
The value of Pi (π) is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter and is approximately equal to 3.14159. In a circle, if you divide the circumference (the total distance around the circle) by the diameter, you will get exactly the same number. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant.
In certain passages of the Bible 3:14 also were significant and a true reflection of whom he became
In Mathew 3:14
Every good gift comes down from heaven upon earth, not ascends from earth to heaven.
In Exodus 3:14
The Real Meaning of God’s Name in Exodus. When the people of Israel were enslaved in Egypt, they cried out to God for deliverance. Then God answered their cry, using the expression “I am who I am” (Exod 3:14) to introduce himself as their deliverer.
If my father had a difference of opinion, he remained steadfast in conversation and would always state, “I am who I am”, with no word of a lie. The gospel truth. Now I realize who he was to me.
John 3:14
We know that we have passed from death to life because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death.
The last says it all! Love makes the World go round not the love of money! I apologize that this might seem out of line with what I usually write, thank you for your understanding as the shoes left behind seem to big to fill but trust me, I will do my best to live by the standards, morals, and values I was taught.
Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends and enjoy every day as if it will be your last, especially full of love and laughter!
I think I love you!
