It just feels like a black cloud is hanging over North America and there isn’t enough money to pay the scientists to do the research. The priority is to send money and ammunition to Ukraine. There is no need to sway a scientist’s conclusions to fit the new narrative when the Media is the bellwether of truth. It’s easier to listen to and visualize these realities without waiting years for a thesis to be formulated, the body of evidence to be proven and science to make conclusions on actual facts.

So far, the beginning of summer has been anything other than stifling hot. The evenings have been rather cool. In actuality, uncomfortable to sit outside under the stars with a skimpy speedo on. Personally, I looked forward to experiencing the heat as I did in my childhood when air conditioning was a benefit of the wealthy and only a privilege for the few.

As a young boy, I remember my parents struggled to maintain the household. Families were very similar as my mom was a stay-at-home housewife, taking care of the kids and doing everything! A thankless job while Papa Joe worked as a plumber by day and moonlighted in the evenings and weekends to make ends meet. It was a time when a one-income household could support a family. Referred to as the “Middle Class”, their children were able to attend a semi-private school paying tuition because education was valued. If lucky enough, a family vacation was a reward that brought excitement and anticipation.  Things might have seemed difficult by today’s standards but there was no complaining.

In the late 60s and early 70s when the humidity at night was so overwhelming,  you couldn’t fall asleep. We congregated in front of a single fan stretching out an extremity so our body could feel that breeze. Ultimately real technology arrived in the form of an oscillating fan. I guess it was the social distancing of the time to keep us separated to reduce body heat? If you were fortunate enough, next to your bed there was a container to dip your hand in cool water. An even better idea was to go downstairs to the unfinished basement and lie on the concrete floor to condition your body for the arthritic pain of the future.

Nonetheless, that was then, this is now. Our vulnerabilities have been exposed as a communication glitch or a deliberate act of terrorism unleashed coast to coast in Canada. There is too much power and responsibility in the hands of a few that actually control us all. Last Friday, our country could have been taken over by an enemy and no one would have known. Most lines of communication were disabled, and everyone working online couldn’t work or even call 911. A massive amount of productivity was lost, along with millions if not billions in revenue.

Evidently, the grand illusion of deception tries to convince people that the economy is booming. The USA created 372k jobs but in reality, they still haven’t reached pre-covid levels. Nor have the stats included the millions of people who have lost their businesses and will never likely come back.

This morning, the Bank of Canada (BOC) surprised the market by raising interest rates by 100 basis points. As a result, the bank rate stands at 2.5% elevating the cost of borrowing across the board. Despite, Oil dipping below $92/B, temporarily. The Canadian Dollar rose above the 0.77 cent level as the Euro hit a crucial psychological level of parity versus the USD.

The explosive news by BOC, who created this mess, to begin with, is a result of providing excessive liquidity into the market. As an independent overseer of the market, it seems as though the BOC has acted in collusion with the Government. Supporting and being directed by the government to support their excessive spending. This is the sole cause responsible for the out-of-control inflation.

Now the unprecedented hike will certainly bring prices down but a consequence will still be affordability. Jobs will be lost while household debts continue to rise.  Consequently, the BOC is chasing its’ tail unless there are drastic cuts to government spending which has induced the inflation we are experiencing at the moment. I would tend to believe that a kindergarten student could manage better. 

The USD Index has retreated toward the 107.50 level. The USD strength has been driven by the anticipated continued interest rate hikes. The effect has muted the price of Precious Metals.  Gold dropped toward the $1700/oz level and Silver wallowed in the $18/oz range. Eventually,  when the cycle ends, the USD will implode and Precious Metals will BOOM!

Finally, weather the storm by spending within your means. A little sacrifice today will hopefully get us all through the hump. Governments and countries will go bankrupt. Sri Lanka was the first, Boris Johnson resigned as PM of England, the French President, Macron, is embroiled in scandal, just lost a key vote and it looks like he will be the next domino to fall. Ultimately, Canada and America will wake up to the destructive force of woke culture tearing apart our way of life and standard of living! Stay Strong and always go to sleep with one eye open while being aware of your surroundings!
