It has been a very long winter and the toughest year of my life. I am not here to complain but being displaced has taken an incredible toll on all and I never imagined the impact it would have on my psyche. I lost my Mojo in more ways than one. After one year we entered our home that was renovated from fire and smoke damage. Since early February we have had no furniture other than our beds resting on the floors. With no T.V. or internet, conversations become more frequent. Though the topics may vary, it is nice understand what our children are actually doing. The wife on the other hand has had a lot to say and of course with no other escape I am forced to listen. There isn’t much of anything else to do? We decided to add a laundry facility in the main bath upstairs as a hideaway. Not thinking ahead the contractor fulfilled our request and the space is only 26 ½ Dx36”W; Yet searching for larger capacity machines depths range from 27-32 inches. Shopping is not my forte; I despise it and become flabbergasted when I see price tags. Therefore looking on Kijiji I found a stackable pair of Kenmore, the identical unit as my Moms.

Now the wife wasn’t happy that we were looking at 2nd hand units but my argument was that when go on vacation, we always used the facilities that were used by others. What’s the difference? Finally she agreed to my reasoning and I asked my cousin to help me. I was satisfied that I got a good deal and common sense prevailed. Once we got home we lifted the units upstairs. My daughter trying clear the path, told us to stop. Dad, I don’t think those units are going to fit through the door. I ran got the tape measure and she was correct, not thinking about the entrance, the actual door is 25” wide, OH MY GOD!

Nothing seems to go my way. I am I a born loser?  After all that effort, we stood there, they laughed and I cried.

Now I have to dismantle and rebuild the units if they ever want to see clean clothes again!
