Christmas is around the corner and a New Year will soon be ushered in as 2013 has been one of the most trying from personal and business perspective. Entering the fiftieth year of my existence I hope 2014 will push the black clouds away and make my life more exciting, but with daughters who needs to worry.
Case in point my youngest took the car a few weeks ago to her part time job. As she drove from the parking garage she tried to be courteous to the oncoming traffic veering to the right. Not paying attention to the Fire Hose mounted on the wall; guess what? A nice deep scratch on the right side forged forever. Did she tell me? Of course not, life would just be too simple. I needed the car to drive to our home, as I entered the driver side and drove; I arrived and parked next to the garbage bin on my driveway. Upon my return to the car I noticed this huge scratch? At first, I wondered, did I do this? I carefully analyzed the area and quickly made a phone call to my daughters. Is there something you both aren’t telling me? Then the truth came out, what could I do? I gave the speech and that was that, I thought.
Then not a week later, the same daughter gets flustered while backing into the parking space, as two other cars approach. She gets flustered backs into the concrete support beam, scrapping the left side. This revelation was presented in a more direct fashion. After we had dinner, she stands in the doorway as if ready to escape. “Dad, this is kind of funny” and she starts to laugh, “I don’t know how to say this HEHEHE but I smashed the car into the pole”. WTF! I snapped. Did anyone get hurt?
As I tried to keep my dinner in my belly, my wife intervenes and says, “Tell her the story of your Dads car when you slammed into the garage wall?” What does that have to do with anything?
Now I have two gashes on both sides of the car and I have to mentally think they are racing stripes to stay sane!
