NFL Super Sunday did not disappoint as the game was determined in the last 2 minutes of the game with the N.Y. Giants defeating the New England Patriots by a 21-17 score taking Superbowl XLVI. The halftime show featured an ageless Madonna with her upbeat enthusiasm delivering on her promise to not disappoint. But disappointments were reserved for Don Filippo who was invited to the 9th Annual Monster Mortgage Super Bowl Party. Having missed last year’s event, I was painfully reminded of my trip to Dallas. Celebrating the 20th anniversary since a group of friends went to Minnesota to actually watch a Super Bowl live. We hit the only snow storm in 50 years in the Big D. Having bypassed tickets for $2200 USD to get cheaper tickets there, the asking price started at $5,000 when we got there. Adding salt to my wounds, all my picks and side bets were lost. Close but no cigar as others danced in jubilation and I kept wondering if it wasn’t for bad luck, I would have no luck at all. The only bet I won was $10 from my broker and even he called claiming his prize, assuming his team had won. With some individuals make sure your bets are in writing, signed and dated. Before I left home I roasted a chicken for my family, my wife told me it was the most delicious and the first thing she asked when I arrived was “how much did I win?” To bad for me there weren’t any leftovers as I will have to sacrifice a few lunches to make up the losses. Sincerely-Philip Magnoli, my friends call me Don Filippo
I think I love you!
